Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains how Scoop (“we”, “us”) handles your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013.
1. Information we collect
- Account details you provide (email address, password).
- Products you save to your watchlist and price alerts you create.
- Activity such as product views and searches, used to personalise recommendations (only if you enable personalisation).
- Notification preferences (email and push) and digest frequency.
2. How we use your information
- To provide price comparisons, watchlists, and alerts.
- To send the notifications you have opted into.
- To improve our service and, where enabled, to personalise recommendations.
3. Your rights under POPIA
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. You can download a copy of your data or delete your account from your account page. To make a request, email privacy@scoop.co.za.
4. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your watchlist, alerts, and activity are removed. Aggregated, non-identifiable usage data may be retained for analytics.
